Integral Water Cycle until 2022

Over the last 15 years, we have developed technologies and methodologies renowned in the market and endorsed by institutions such as the OECD, WexGlobal or the European Commission.

Our success stories

WETNET is a low-cost Smart flowmeter able to identify and reduce leakage in water supply networks by 15%.

Having started with a pilot experience in a city of 100,000 inhabitants (Pisa, Italy), there are currently 1,000 units installed at the international level.  wetnet.eu

WIZ is an efficient information system that allows for a better management of drinking water and the urban planning processes related to it. It provides data on the quantity and quality of the drinking water in the town concerned, the economic and environmental costs of the supply process, whether or not the possibility of exploiting new water resources or renovating the network should be considered, etc. wiz‐life.eu

SANePLAN is a decision support system designed to improve water governance.

It covers sanitation and urban planning management taking into account aspects such as costs, environmental protection, population growth and climate change. saneplan-life.eu

More success stories

AQUAMUNDAM

Given the importance of hydrological planning and the efficiency of distribution networks, we have developed a tool that allows small and medium-sized towns to monitor their drinking water distribution networks and their sanitation systems.

This technological solution, more commonly found in smart cities, has already been implemented in 12 towns that are now able to learn about their operating costs and discover potential issues in real time, at a reasonable and sustainable cost.

ROEM+

The Cuerda del Pozo reservoir, in Soria, was the location where we verified the success of our system for the monitoring and adaptive management of inland aquatic ecosystems. We have been able to tackle eutrophication through state-of-the-art sensor networks along with predictive simulation techniques. An innovative environmental solution designed for the Spanish Hydrographic Confederations and other institutions involved in water resource management and its uses.

WATERNANOENV

By developing nanosensors able to react in the presence of cyanotoxins and bacteria such as e-coli and enterococci, we were able to obtain a tested and reliable solution for the early detection of water pollution in reservoirs.

Another line of work where we have made remarkable progress is the assessment of the impact nanowaste has on the purification phase, a problem for which wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) are not properly designed.

Awards and recognitions

“Best of The Best LIFE Projects” award from the European Commission

ITG attended the “LIFE Best Project Awards” ceremony, held annually in Brussels, to accept the award recognizing WIZ as one of the best 8 environmental projects in Europe.

Before obtaining this award, it was one of the 25 projects selected from a total of 102 candidates. The WIZ – WaterIZe spatial planning project, approved by the European Commission as part of the LIFE+ initiative at the end of the year 2010, in the Environmental Politics and Governance category, had a budget of 2,445,207.00 euros. ITG was the only Spanish partner.

The business development manager of our technological center, Juan Luis Sobreira Seoane, is a board member of the Spanish Technological Platform for Water (PTEA). Board of Directors.

The Platform promotes R&D&i in the sector as well as the involvement of Spanish companies and public institutions in EU programs, initiatives and projects. One of its main goals is to foster the cooperation between the scientific community and the business sector, prepare and implement a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA), promote technology transfer and create a productive fabric.

Two honorable mentions in WEX Global

Water and Energy Exchange (WEX Global) is the world’s most prestigious business meeting between professionals and companies specialized in the water and energy fields. A summit whose aim is to create business alliances by means of a large number of meetings held among all the participants.

ITG technological center’s business development management Juan Luis Sobreira Seoane, PhD, attended its 10th anniversary which took place in Lisbon, where we received two honorable mentions for the technology developed over the last few years for the improvement of the management of integral water cycles.
