Dec 12th, 2018 – The Chairman of the Technological Institute of Galicia, Carlos Calvo, was re-elected as Chairman of the Spanish Federation of Technology Centers (Fedit) for the next four years, which was announced during the XLVIII General Assembly, the highest regulatory organ within the Federation.

Born in A Coruña, Carlos Calvo graduated as Industrial Engineer for Madrid Polytechnic University, Executive MBA, University Specialist in Technological Innovation, and obtained a Masters in Quality and Environmental Management. Since 1999 he is Chairman of the ITG and he is currently Chairman of FEDIT.

Thanks to my colleagues for the trust placed in me, once more. It is an honour and a responsibility, to provide an important voice to the 30 affiliated technology centers and their 300 professionals

The candidates for the Board of Directors that will accompany him during the next four years are: Laura Olcina, CEO of ITI (Technical Institute of Computer Science, Valencia); Francisco Puche Forte CEO of CETEM (Technological Centre of Wood and Furniture, Murcia); Xavier Lopez, CEO of Eurecat (Catalonia Technology Center); Juan Ramon de la Torre, CEO of ADItech (Technological Corporation, Navarra); and Iñigo Felgueroso, CEO of ITMA (Materials Technology, Asturias).

Technology Centers have proven to be a tremendously efficient tool in the realisation of technological and innovative advances in the businesses of their environment, improving productivity levels and growth capacity in the strong globally competitive framework

Balance of FEDIT Technology Centers

FEDIT Technology Centers show improvements in all fields: growth of 13% in its turnover, 7% growth in clients (nearly 20,000 businesses) growth of 9% in staff (recreating previous year’s growth) and a higher balance between private income (11%) and public income (16%).

30% of the innovation activity of Spanish businesses derives from Technology Centers

These figures are possible thanks to the structural and economic stability of FEDIT Centers, which achieve an identifiable economic growth, developing new venues of technical and scientific research, medium and long term, offering solutions to businesses that require upgrades to their products or models. This way, the income derived from the three main lines of the business, own R+D, subcontracted R+D and Technological Services, have grown in a similar manner, between 16% and 18%.
