ITG brings 200 professionals together in A Coruña for the first European Commission’s Industry Day held in Galicia.

20 March 2019 – The Technological Institute of A Coruña (ITG) held the first Industry Day of Galicia this morning. The event took place during the EU Industry Week, promoted by the European Commission with the aim of drawing attention to the most important industrial challenges of the moment.

In the presentation ceremony, the Minister of Economy, Employment and Industry of the Regional Government of Galicia, Francisco Conde, praised the efforts made by the Regional Government in terms of innovation, thanks to which Galicia is at the forefront of sectors such as the automotive industry, unmanned aerial vehicles, the naval sector, ITCs, or biotechnology: “Galicia is strongly committed to the development of an industry linked to digitalization and innovation”, he declared.

 

In the words of the president of ITG, Antonio Couceiro, “Today’s event, within the context of the EU Industry week, reflects ITG’s commitment to the development of R&D strategies in Galicia. The efforts and commitment of our highly skilled multidisciplinary team, which is part of the Institute, has allowed us to position ourselves in Europe and become an active part of innovative projects in the R&D areas with the greatest potential at the moment. This is why we are very proud of having helped Galicia position itself at the forefront of cutting-edge innovation at the international level”.

Technical content

The contents included in the two rounds of presentations revolved around digital transformation and enabling technologies in the industry. Representatives from prestigious companies talked about their experience in monitoring processes, predictive maintenance, advanced data-capturing, BigData, machine learning, artificial vision, augmented reality and virtual reality.

VIEW PROGRAM

The first round, “Leading the digital transformation of the industry”, was attended by representatives from Repsol, Navantia, the Cluster of Automotive Companies of Galicia (CEAGA) and the Official Association of Industrial Engineers of Galicia (ICOIIG). The presentation by Accenture Strategy was followed by the “Enabling Technologies” round, with representatives from Álava Ingenieros, Grupo ULMA, Material ConneXion Bilbao and the Spanish Maintenance Association.

EU Industry WEEK

Between January and March 2019, a series of local and open events took place throughout Europe during the EU Industry Week. Said events focused on key industrial challenges such as sustainability, digitalization, investment and globalization.

Event organized by the Technological Institute of Galicia (ITG), the only technological center recognized by the State in the province of A Coruña, as part of the European Commission’s IndustryWeek initiative.
