Description

EXTINCIA focuses on the research and development of a firebreak and wildfire extinguishing system for rural areas near populated zones. It relies on small electric-powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), a high-performance embedded computing solution, AI-guided algorithms for executing autonomous fire extinguishing manoeuvres, an advanced air traffic management system, and monitoring systems for personnel involved and radio communication.

The general objectives are:

To enable precise extinction of small wildfire outbreaks.
To increase extinction effectiveness with advanced AI technologies.
To enable effective coordination between UAVs and manned aircraft in fire extinguishing operations.
To significantly enhance safety in firefighting operations.
