Restaur_AR

Augmented Reality for cultural heritage assets restoration and dissemination

Category National
Sectors Culture and Heritage
Execution Period 2023-2024
Funding CDTI, Audiovisual and Video Game Technology R&D Projects Programme

Description

The overall objective of RESTAUR_AR is to create an application within an augmented reality environment for simulating potential restoration and conservation actions on cultural heritage assets.

The project focuses on researching techniques involving computer vision to identify common defects combined with photogrammetry to identify their sizes. Subsequently, the application simulates various restoration techniques in a virtual, showcasing the results of these actions in an augmented reality environment.

Specific Objectives:

OE1 Analysis of the State of the Art: To conduct an analysis of the state of the art concerning the most common indices and status indicators, simulation algorithms and recreation of virtual hypotheses in the field of heritage assets conservation and restoration, as well as conservation and/or restoration models and risk indices.

OE2 Design of Risk Index and Object Status Models: Design risk index and object status models for subsequent use in the implementation of machine learning algorithms and predictive modelling.

OE3 Design and Implementation of Machine Learning Algorithm Module: Develop and evaluate supervised machine learning algorithms for the automated classification of the most common defects to be detected in cultural heritage objects.

OE4 Design and Implementation of Predictive Modelling Algorithm Module: Develop algorithms and predictive modelling for the automated generation of virtual hypotheses for the restoration and/or conservation of cultural heritage objects.
