AI-powered automated management of energy infrastructures (Virtual Power Plants) to validate new business models focused on flexibility and local energy markets

Description
Implementation of an intelligent system for monitoring, controlling, and managing heterogeneous energy infrastructures in the marine environment (which can be extrapolated to any field), consisting of generation and storage elements, chemical energy vector generators, and a platform to support the future deployment of a local energy market. A testing laboratory to study and validate the business model for the planning, deployment and management of Virtual Power Plants focused on flexibility and local energy markets.
The project is divided into three stages: (1) design and evaluation of the new business model deployment, (2) development of technological tools for its planning and management, and (3) implementation of demonstration activities on the experimental PLOCAN platform, a facility located on the seabed at a depth of 30 metres, 1.5 kilometres off the north-eastern coast of Gran Canaria.
Expected results:
- Validation of the new business model on an industrial-scale experimental platform, as well as the technological tools necessary for its design and intelligent management with AI.
- Expert knowledge for the scalability and replication of VPPs and local markets
- Development and validation of a tool for planning and evaluating PVP and local markets.
- Development and validation of an AI-based management tool for PVP and local markets.
- Enhanced training in carrying out demonstrations of new business models in relation to the energy transition.
- Knowledge transfer to the target audience to disseminate the project results and identify replication opportunities for the business model tackled.
