Description

SMART_BUILDING_COOP is a cross‑border cooperation project between Galicia and Northern Portugal aimed at significantly improving the energy efficiency and sustainability of public buildings through the digitalisation of energy management.

The project develops and implements a Smart Building platform based on IoT, Big Data and artificial intelligence technologies, enabling real‑time energy monitoring, predictive analysis, detection of inefficiencies and automated optimisation of energy resources. A network of IoT sensors will be deployed in 30 public pilot buildings of different typologies (administrative, educational, cultural, healthcare, etc.), integrating data into an interoperable and scalable solution.

SMART_BUILDING_COOP promotes an innovative, data‑driven and proactive energy management model that supports decision‑making, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, lowers operational costs for public administrations and contributes to the energy and digital transition of the public sector.

Objectives:

  • Increase the energy efficiency of public buildings through intelligent monitoring and management systems.
  • Reduce primary energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in public infrastructures.
  • Design, develop and validate an interoperable and scalable Smart Building digital platform.
  • Deploy and validate the solution in 30 public pilot buildings across the Galicia–Northern Portugal Euroregion.
  • Train technical and management staff in advanced energy management tools.
  • Define replicability and scalability strategies for adoption in other public buildings and territories.
