Description

SPATIO addresses the challenges related to airspace management for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), focusing on separation management within U-space environments. As the number of UAS operations increases, ensuring safe separation becomes a key aspect to prevent both strategic and tactical conflicts.

SPATIO researches and develops advanced U-space (U3) services aimed at strategic and tactical conflict resolution, as well as analysing the relationship between separation and capacity in U-space airspaces, particularly in connection with Dynamic Capacity Management services.

The project also contributes to the definition of high-performance U-space airspaces, enabling safe and efficient multi-UAV operations and supporting the growth of the drone sector. This includes applications such as surveillance, inspection, freight transport, and urban air mobility. In addition, SPATIO considers societal acceptance factors, such as noise and visual impact, to support the sustainable integration of UAV operations.

Objectives:

The main objective of SPATIO is to improve separation management between UAVs in U-space environments through the development of advanced services that enable efficient and safe conflict prevention and resolution.

In addition, the project aims to analyse the relationship between separation and airspace capacity, contributing to the development of Dynamic Capacity Management services. It also supports the definition of high-performance U-space airspaces, enabling an increase in operations while maintaining safety levels.

Finally, SPATIO seeks to foster societal acceptance of UAS operations by considering factors such as noise and visual impact, contributing to the sustainable development of the drone ecosystem.
