ENECORE
Promoting the use of sustainable energy through shared energy pilot projects and the fight against energy poverty in rural areas

Description
ENECORE is a cross‑border cooperation project between Spain and Portugal aimed at promoting a fair energy transition in rural areas of the POCTEP region through the deployment of new shared renewable energy models to tackle energy poverty.
The project designs, develops, validates and implements 4 real pilot experiences of innovative energy models such as collective self‑consumption, rural energy communities and peer‑to‑peer (P2P) local energy markets. These models are supported by advanced digital technologies, IoT platforms and artificial intelligence algorithms for intelligent energy monitoring and management.
ENECORE focuses on vulnerable consumers, fostering inclusive, proximity‑based solutions that improve access to clean and affordable energy, enhance territorial energy resilience, reduce external dependency and support the decarbonisation of the energy system. The solutions developed are designed to be scalable and replicable across the POCTEP territory.
Objectives:
- Promote renewable energy as a main energy source in rural environments.
- Design and validate innovative shared energy models aimed at combating energy poverty.
- Deploy at least 4 representative pilot projects in rural areas of the POCTEP region.
- Develop digital tools and intelligent platforms for energy monitoring and management.
- Create replicable methodologies and strategies for the prevention and mitigation of energy poverty.
- Foster knowledge transfer, citizen awareness and the adoption of best energy practices.
