New concrete battery in the form of an urban road section for photovoltaic energy storage in the smart city environment

Category National
Sectors Construction and Urban Planning, Renewable Energies
Execution Period 2022 – 2023
Funding Public-private partnership projects AEI. CPP2021-008978

Description

The aim of the project is to develop a new solar energy storage system in the Smart City environment composed of a new concrete battery. The approach is to take advantage of the large amount of pavement that currently exists in Spanish cities to provide a new stretch of road with a dual function:

  1. To serve as a common pavement for an urban street or square.
  2. To store energy to power some Smart City applications such as streetlights, ticketing platforms, traffic lights or similar.
