

22 March 2019 – This morning, the first accelerator of the Galician food sector was presented at Cidade da Cultura in Santiago de Compostela. Business Factory Food.
Promoted by the Regional Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry through the Galician Institute of Economic Promotion (Igape), the Management Company for Closed Ended Investment Firms (XesGalicia) and the Galician Innovation Agency (Gain), BFFood has been created for the purpose of promoting and expanding new businesses that bring innovative solutions to the market, strengthening the business and industrial fabric of the Galician sector and attracting national and international talent.
The accelerator will be coordinated by the Food Cluster of Galicia (CLUSAGA) and is already supported by large, leading companies of this sector, such as Calvo, Nueva Pescanova, Bodegas Martín Códax, Kiwi Atlántico, Clavo Food Factory, CLUN Cooperativas Lácteas Unidas, Quescrem and Torre de Núñez.
ITG is part of BFFood’s technical committee along with the three Galician universities, the Galician Association of Agricultural Cooperatives (AGACA), Anfaco-Cecopesca and the Galician Business-University Foundation (FEUGA).

The ceremony held this morning to present the accelerator was attended by Clusaga’s president Juan A. Vázquez Gancedo, who defined the initiative as a “dynamic force of open innovation and entrepreneurship”, and by the regional minister of Economy, Employment and Industry, Francisco Conde López, who emphasized the quality and importance of the agri-food sector in the Galician economy and how BFFood is a great opportunity to encourage entrepreneurship in this sector, especially in rural areas, as well as to upgrade it through new technologies and innovation.
- “Business Factory Food was created to find solutions to the challenges faced by the companies of the food sector through disruptive innovations that allow us to stand out in our current context of global competition”, declared Vázquez Gancedo. On the other hand, the managers of Clusaga and BFFood, Roberto Alonso and Javier Osuna, explained the details of the program and the challenges of this first edition, whose call will remain open until 16 May.
