APROAVI

Comprehensive waste management in the poultry sector

Category National
Sectors Agriculture and Livestock
Execution Period 2022 - 2024
Funding European Innovation Association (EIA). Rural Development Program (PDR) of Galicia 2014-2020

Description

APROAVI focuses on improving the competitiveness of poultry farms through the recovery of poultry manure along with other organic waste, promoting its conversion into renewable energy (biogas and pyrolysis gas) and fertilizers based on digestate and biochar.

To achieve this challenge, the following activities will be carried out:

  • Identify and establish the characteristics of the main organic waste generated in the region of A Limia and Baixa Limia.
  • Maximize biogas production by reducing the inhibitory effect of nitrogen present in poultry manure in the anaerobic digestion process through co-digestion with abundant agricultural waste in the study area.
  • Establish the effect of pyrolysis temperature on biochar formation (yield) and on its main properties.
