POLYBRIS
Recovery of plastic waste present in marine litter

Description
POLYBRIS promotes the sustainability of the marine environment and participation in circular alternatives based on the implementation of optimized thermochemical recovery processes of plastic waste present in marine litter. These waste products will be transformed into value-added products that enable the selective capture of organic and inorganic pollutants present in waters and other effluents from maritime-fishing environments, that will help reduce the negative impacts on aquatic ecosystems and contribute to their good environmental status.
To achieve this objective, the following activities will be carried out:
- Promote and disseminate local innovation among entities in the fishing sector, changing ways of doing or thinking about the collection of marine litter.
- Selection and characterization of waste of interest based on the thermochemical process applied.
- Develop specific thermochemical recovery processes (pyrolysis, HTC, gasification) of plastic waste present in marine litter through new lines of recoverable products.
- Achieve the use of marine waste composed of plastics through optimized thermochemical recovery processes, through actions aimed at the evaluation of contaminants present in the value chain of maritime-fishing activities.
- Environmental impact assessment and economic viability of implementing valorization actions through actions aimed at visits to entities related to the fishing sector to assess waste generation.
