PREDNAV
Predictive Demand System for Shipbuilding and Repair

Description
PREDNAV is an ambitious industrial research project that leverages artificial intelligence and quantum technology to predict the demand for shipbuilding and repair on a global scale, considering several key factors when forecasting supply and demand movements, such as the macroeconomic situation, demographic trends, energy needs, goods consumption, fleet status, and regulatory changes.
This project will enable companies to anticipate market changes, optimize production planning, and improve strategic decision-making in their commercial activities. With this tool, the Spanish and European naval industry will enhance its competitiveness, adapt to global market demands, and overcome the limitations imposed by Asian competitors.
To achieve this overall goal, the consortium must overcome significant technological challenges, including:
- Data quality and availability: The global naval industry has fragmented data, sometimes with restricted access. A major challenge will be compiling a comprehensive database with sufficient historical information that is clean and normalized.
- Modeling a complex, multifactorial system: The shipbuilding market depends on numerous factors. The scientific challenge will be to identify the most predictive variables and suitable model architectures, exploring different future scenarios.
- Limitations of current quantum technology: Available quantum computers have limited capabilities in terms of qubits and stability. The QML (Quantum Machine Learning) models to be applied will need to be scaled to be validated in these environments.
